Thomas County Schools is pleased to offer Accident Insurance in 2025, insured by Prudential. This coverage is designed to help mitigate the financial impact of unexpected medical expenses resulting from accidents. If you sustain an injury that requires medical treatment, the Accident Plan provides benefits according to a schedule, covering a variety of medical services such as hospital admissions, office visits, therapy, and x-rays. 

The plan also includes variable benefits based on the specific type of injury and features an Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit for added peace of mind.

Important Documents

This plan reimburses you for your actual medical expenses and the benefit is paid directly to you. Coverage options are available for you, your spouse, and your dependent child(ren). It also includes a benefit for death, loss of limbs, hospital visits, and transportation by ambulance – as a result of a covered accident.

Health Screening Benefit


The voluntary Accident plan includes a wellness benefit for covered preventive screenings, including but not limited to:

  • Chest X-Ray
  • Mammogram
  • Hemoccult
  • Colonoscopy
  • CA 125 and CEA blood tests
  • Prostate specific antigen testing
  • Annual physical exam, biometric screening, or stress test
  • Routine dental or vision exam
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG) or ultrasound screening for abdominal aneurysms

 

Wellness Benefit Amount

  • Employee: $50
  • Spouse: $50
  • Child(ren): $50

Simply submit your claim form along with proof of your screening to receive your screening benefit. Submit your wellness claim online with documentation from your provider by visiting www.prudential.com/mybenefits or by calling 844-455-1002 to file your claim with a representative.

Important Notes


  • All employees are eligible for coverage, regardless of age.
  • Employee enrollment is necessary for dependents to be eligible.
  • Children are eligible dependents until age 26. 
  • If you are married to a Thomas County Schools employee, only one of you can enroll dependents; duplicate coverage is not permitted.
  • When you separate from the district, you have the option to apply for portability to maintain your Accident policy at the same rate as active employees.
